Men tack vare Quasimodo, räddas hon och blir ihop med Phoebus. I uppföljaren har hon fått en son, Zephyr. Victor Hugo skrev även ett libretto till en opera kallad "La Esmeralda". Där är berättelsen och slutet annorlunda än i romanen, och Esmeralda överlever. Se även. Ringaren i Notre Dame
